Safeguarding
"See, hear, and do something."
Safeguarding is the process of protecting children from abuse or neglect, preventing impairment of their health and development, and ensuring they are growing up in the circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care that enables children to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully.
Harper Green School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We work in partnership with parents and external agencies to ensure that the students achieve their full potential and positively contribute to their learning and the wider community.
There may be occasions when we may have concerns about a student, which may mean that we have to consult with external agencies. We follow the Department of Education Safeguarding guidance and work within their framework and good practice guidelines. We also have our own Safeguarding policy that is updated each year in line with current changes. Please see additional documents in support of our safeguarding practice below.
Are you concerned about a child?
If you have concern for any member of the Harper Green Community, please contact the school and ask to speak to one of the Safeguarding team as identified on the poster above. If you have information that will help us better support your family or your child, please do the same. The school can also be contacted via email at head@harpergreen.net.

Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a partnership between police and schools whereby all incidents of domestic abuse are shared with schools, not just those where an offence can be identified. Harper Green are proud to have strong partnerships with local agencies, including Fort Alice (further details here: https://fortalice.org.uk/) and the Police, to effectively safeguard all members of our community, and to provide appropriate follow up support in response to any incident of domestic violence in the home. Our response to such notifications varies, from welfare checks to the implementation of Early Help support. This work will occur in collaboration with parents and family members. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the school to speak to Mr S Walsh (Designated Safeguarding Lead).
